Courage and determination can work miracles. People from #acid attacks are capable of giving beauty tutorials and that is possible only because they have the faith that they can. There are many struggles and stumbling blocks in our way and at times it is likely to beat us down in the worst manners possible. But should that keep us from getting where we want to? Not necessarily. In fact, not at all. Here is the incredible story of Karen Crespo that will only re-establish your faith in this thought.
In 2011, Karen Crespo suffered a severe form of bacterial meningitis called meningoccernia
The blood infection took over her body and she had to be operated for it.
When she opened her eyes after 15 days of coma, both her hands and legs had been amputated.
She was released after staying in the ICU for five months and had to move in with her mother.
But she showed courage and fought with the mental as well as emotional setbacks really well.
Then she discovered fashion designer Carrie Hammer’s “Role Models, Not Runway Models” campaign featuring the first-ever model in a wheelchair
She then emailed Hammer saying that the designer inspired her.
In a reply, Hammer invited Karen to be one of her role models of the NY Fashion Week.
And so came the moment.
Karen indeed walked the ramp.
